Directories

A self-generated list of European-based female Immersive Tech speakers who were willing to add their details to a publicly available database.

Creative Europe Desk NL MEDIA and VR Days collected European organisations in AR/VR or related to the XR industry, aiming to increase the visibility of the European AR/VR industry and to increase European collaboration. The directory is structured by country participating in Creative Europe MEDIA (and Switzerland) and by category: Association, Education, Fund, Startup Network and Trade Organisation.


 

Funding

The XR4ALL project is an initiative funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme to strengthen the European XR technology industry and to accelerate its growth.


The Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) is the cultural public funding body of Belgium's Flemish Community. It includes three specialized funds, (partly) covering individual films in various genres, high-quality television series developed in co-production with a Flemish TV broadcaster as well as video games by games companies in Flanders and Brussels.


Digital Content Funding (DCF) is a funding scheme for games, apps, mobile, virtual and augmented reality.


 

Third party training

Unity offers a wide range of resources for creators at every stage of learning. Projects walk you through the creation of a full Unity application, with opportunities to mod and experiment. Courses bring together the best projects and tutorials to guide you down the right path to advancing your skills. Tutorials explore specific Unity features and development tasks with shorter lessons and demos.


 

Podcasts

Since May 2014, Kent Bye has conducted over 1200 Voices of VR podcast interviews featuring the pioneering artists, storytellers, and technologists driving the resurgence of virtual & augmented reality.

 

Open tools, policy and guidelines

As part of the Digital Single Market strategy, the Interactive Technologies, Digital for Culture & Education unit of the European Commission wrote a policy about “Next Generation Internet - Interactive Technologies”.


The mission of W3C’s Immersive Web Working Group is to bring high-performance Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) to the open Web via APIs to interact with XR devices and sensors in browsers.


OpenXR is a royalty-free open standard that provides high-performance access to Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) platforms and devices.


SolAR is an open-source framework making it possible to easily create your own camera pose estimation solution to develop augmented reality applications.


Exposure to some of the more common words and concepts can help you navigate this strange and fascinating ecosystem. Hence, VR.Space has created a Virtual Reality Glossary that explains VR vocabulary terms.

 

XR News from Europe

Virtual Perceptions is a UK-based website highlighting new and exciting trends and companies in Immersive Reality (VR, AR, MR). The site is handled by Tom Ffiske.


Virtual Worlds News is an Italian online platform about the future of tech. The blog covers news from the virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence industries.


This French online magazine reports on the latest XR hardware, games and 360 cameras. They also present use cases of VR and AR in different sectors.


This online magazine curates the most important news related to the subject of learning, VR, AR and Mixed Reality. In addition, Torsten Fell publishes blog posts and provides new ideas about opportunities of immersive learning.


VR-Nerds is a small group of VR enthusiasts who have set themselves the task to provide an overview over the topic of virtual reality. The news cover the VR, AR and MR sectors.


MIXED.de is Germany’s first online magazine about mixed reality and the future of computers. New human-machine interfaces such as virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence show how humans will interact with computers in future - or the other way around. MIXED accompanies this change with news, test reports, interviews and comments as well as a weekly podcast. In addition to technology itself, they write about its social and societal impact.
